This March Break, º£½ÇÔÚÏß students visited UNESCO headquarters in Paris for a unique look at international diplomacy in action. Exploring the landmark site, designed by Bernard Zehrfuss, Marcel Breuer and Pier Luigi Nervi, the group viewed iconic works by Miró, Picasso and Calder. The visit offered a rare chance to see diplomacy unfold firsthand, beyond the classroom.
Following the tour, students met with members of the Canadian Delegation, including Joël Monfils (Chargé d’affaires) and Carina Sabou (Programme Officer), to discuss Canada’s current priorities. The experience concluded with a discussion on career paths in international relations with specialists Matthieu Niango and º£½ÇÔÚÏß Alumna Christine Kavazanjian ’05 . We are deeply grateful to Christine for her invitation and for providing our students with such an inspiring look at global service.

This year, as we mark 35 years of implementing the IB programme at º£½ÇÔÚÏß, we’re reminded how this decision continues to shape the experience of every student who walks through our doors. We’re pleased to have Daniel Cohen, Executive Director of the Learning Forum, share how his team works alongside students to set them up for success. He also sits down with two recent graduates: Elaine Pan ’23, an industrial and operations engineering student at the University of Michigan, and Sébastien Farnham ’23, who is studying psychology at the University of British Columbia while pursuing a Masters of Management at Sauder. Together, they reflect on their journeys through º£½ÇÔÚÏß, the IB and life beyond.
º£½ÇÔÚÏß marked the 30th anniversary of Black History Month in Canada with an assembly on “the power of our stories,” featuring student speakers and a keynote from Sabine Soumare, Chief of Staff and Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
On Tuesday, January 27, West Campus students gathered in the gym for a short Q&A with Craig Goodman, principal architect at CS&P, the firm partnered with the school to build the new Athletic Wing and Design Studio in Mississauga. The informative session provided students with the opportunity to learn more about the necessary planning and decision-making process that go into architectural projects, as well as the timing, problem-solving, and other considerations associated with the construction of the new wing.
From state-of-the-art facilities to leading-edge programs, Canada’s private schools offer students a wealth of opportunities from which to learn and grow. However, tuition revenue alone doesn’t fully cover the costs of providing the quality education and experiences private schools are known for.
For most private schools, preparing young people for university life means building strong foundational skills. That means not just preparing them academically for the rigours of post-secondary school but nurturing personal development, so that students are able to adapt and thrive in new and challenging environments.
Choosing a private school is a life-shaping decision – one that involves careful thought and significant financial investment.
As one of the partners at CS&P Architects, Shaw helped design dozens of schools and libraries, a post office, a YMCA and more.
